The Nate Creek Cabins

After weeks of work from our partners at Oregon Restoration, the mold and asbestos remediation inside the Nate Creek cabins is complete. The majority of the drywall in each building needed to be removed, leaving some cabins more intact than others. In all of the cabins, the bathrooms had to be dismantled.

Our next steps are re-plumbing and re-wiring each building. We’ll add more indoor lighting, more electrical outlets, and mini splits for heating and cooling. Once that work is done, we can rebuild the cabin interiors.

The Camp Manager’s House

The Camp Manager’s house, which was built in the 1940s and named Harding Cottage, has also gone through mold and asbestos remediation. The mold issues were particularly severe in the kitchen, bathrooms, entire second floor, attic, and crawlspace under the building. Much of the bathrooms had to be removed, the kitchen had to be torn out entirely, and the second floor is down to its studs.

At the beginning of the remediation work, Oregon Restoration discovered that the mold issue was much more severe and widespread than we had anticipated, and requested that we have an engineer confirm that the building is still stable before continuing. We’re happy to report that an inspection from an engineering firm determined that the house is structurally sound.
